marinate on this:
sorbet made of WINE.
don't think about it for too long
like i did. i read about it in
Edible Brooklyn
and thought "interesting,
but eh."
i hit Whole Foods on the
Bowery before heading home
yesterday to pick up some
dinner stuff and what do i find
but a freakin' samples festival!
apparently, every Wednesday, they
have a block party. it's was a
veritable smorgasbord
of free samples.
folks were walking
around with FULL plates of
produce, cheese, cookies, meats,
tea/juice, breads
all manner of yummy goodness.
according to the Whole Foods site:
"Start your night off right at Whole Foods Market Bowery's weekly tasting party. Sample the best the store has to offer, try new-to-you products from every department and learn about our faves from near and far."
awesome. officially on my Wednesday
to do list.
anywho, they had a fabulous fella
who was giving out samples of
Brooklyn-based Wine Cellar Sorbet.
i recall the article i read
and figured i'd try it for free.
Mr. Wine Cellar gave me ALL the flavors while
we shot the breeze about the
plethora of folks happily getting a
free meal on Whole Foods and Whole Foods
happily giving it up.
i mean, Whole Foods be
feelin' itself a bit much sometimes
but hey, they peddle in the wares of
those with disposable income
or those serious about eatin' right,
which can cost a pretty penny.
and the prices will stay
high until the rest of
the world catches on and
demands the same quality
of food in ALL grocery stores.
anywho...
i have Champagne.
Riesling.
Rose.
Pinot Noir.
then, the Sangria Rojo.
oh jesus yes i'm hooked. so yummy & tasty.
and refreshing as an afterwork apéritif.
yep, i said that shit, look it up.
AND it contains alcohol.
5% by volume, homes.
get some. you'll thank me.
